Tate Britain Announces Next Duveen Galleries Artist

3103_tate.jpg Dubliner Eva Rothschild has been unveiled as the next artist to fill the annual Duveen galleries commission at Tate Britain. According to Art Daily (who should know about these things) the sculptor "uses a wide variety of materials, such as leather and steel, which are often incongruously juxtaposed to create deceptively simple works that lightly yet effectively occupy space". Rothschild is keeping mum on her exact plans, but has vowed to use her commission to "agitate the architecture" of the 70-metre long galleries, which were memorably used last year by Martin Creed's endless stream of sprinters. The installation will be unveiled June 29th. (Image / Scarycrow)
