Free Tonight?

Tiny elephants once roamed the islands of the Mediterranean. Who knew? The diminutive Dumbos were less than a metre high - which, if we may be hilarious for a second, made them small enough to pack into a trunk. Tonight, at the Grant Museum, UCL, Victoria Herridge of the Natural History Museum will present her latest research on the pint-sized pachyderms, which went extinct some 10,000 years ago. There's intrigue here. The skulls of these beasties have a large nasal cavity where one might expect the eyes to be. Because of this, some speculate that dwarf elephant skulls led to myths of the cyclops. After the talk, relax in the museum with a complementary glass of wine. The event starts at 6pm, it's free, and there's no need to book in advance.
