Preview: Strictly Not That Kind Of Dance Selection

The first quarter of the dance year means Resolution! And lots of it. It's the 20th anniversary of this singular brave festival which provides a major league, accessible platform for any professional choreographer, whether fresh out of college or with a few stripes earned. Whichever, the work will be new, the mixed bills unpredictable, the tickets pretty cheap and triple bills mean plenty of opportunity to quaff the vino and chew the (non existent) fat. Resolution is already in full flow and will flood on till 21 February. Find out what's on and read reviews of everything online.

Over at London's Dance House there's an unbelievable programme of dance-fan dance, most of which is probably sold out by now. For the average punter or first-time dance attempter, there's Sampled, Sadler's annual "taster show" featuring a bit of this, a bit of that, and all for just £10 or a fiver if you're willing to stand (and boogie). Get your ticket now. We mean now. Or you'll miss out. If you enjoyed Manon the other week, Agnes Oaks (retired - ha!) and her hubby are celebrating themselves there too, for one night only - be ready to queue for returns.

For the more inured or serious danceophile take your pick of Les Ballets C de la B, Jerome Bel talking about himself or gorge on the divine pairing of Mlle Guillem and Russell Maliphant indulging in a bit of kabuki. Sadlers packs an awesome programme, but hoover up the seats ASAP.

Down the road, Barbican presents solo artist, Colin Dunne, transforming Irish dance into an altogether less Riverdancey and more introspective experience and the Pied Piper retold in hip hop by the awesome Boy Blue.

Fleeing south, the Southbank Centre are letting one smouldering and fantastically talented Rafael Bonachaela loose with an entire weekend, starring his own favourite dancers and choreographers of the moment. And, oh wow, it's free! From 4.30pm on 31st Jan & 1st Feb. Now that's exciting.
