Plath Play Planned for London Theatre

Call it what you like – the cult of personality, a fascination with the tragic circumstances of her death, or her oft-disputed place in the 20th-century pantheon of Very Important Poets – but interest in the life and work of Sylvia Plath shows no signs of abating. The latest evidence: Plath’s only play, Three Women, will enjoy a month-long run at the Jermyn Street Theatre next month (opening 5 January). Taking up the familiar Plathian focus on women’s diverse – and often fraught – experiences of motherhood, this will be the drama’s first known staging since airing on BBC radio in 1962.
