Holy kept political pledges, Batman! When Boris promised not to increase the GLA portion of Londoners' council tax back at the Tory conference, the more cynical among us thought 'yeah, yeah'. But the Mayor's draft budget is out – and yes, £92m of savings have been identified across the Met, Fire Service and GLA (apparently without affecting services. Hmm). Boris isn't promising your local council won't whack up their share but at least it's one bit of your rapidly disappearing finances you know is staying still. Just don't mention the tube fare rises...
