Review: Tipped Chilli Cook-Off

Created with Admarket's flickrSLiDR.

Londonist happily attended Tipped’s Chilli Cook-Off at the Mucky Pup on Saturday, where in addition to sampling a range of mostly excellent chillies (there were eight in the competition; Londonist loved all but two of them), we (as in food and drink editor, Chris Osburn) also participated. We didn’t win but felt our chilli held its own against the competition. Of course, with the likes of cook-off winner and food blogger phenomenon, Helen Graves, we were honoured just to have been invited to participate. And the Mucky Pup was a fantastic spot for such a competition: a real (free!) jukebox with a very impressive collection of tunes, a pool table and all sorts of bric-a-brac that gave us the impression that it’s the sort of pub that gives a damn about rock ‘n’ roll, kicking back and having fun and hosting chilli cook-offs.

And (without giving away any political leanings), we couldn’t help but chuckle at the Sarah Palin piñata! Nice touch.
