Purchase Of Crossrail Sites Begins

Sites around Tottenham Court Road were bought up today. Some thirteen buildings in total including, sadly, the Astoria, will be bought and demolished to make way for a comprehensive re-build of the station, transforming it into a joint Underground and Crossrail hub. The Astoria’s fate has been sealed for some months, and while we’re fully behind the cross-London rail project, the destruction of such a venue will be a black day for London’s live music scene.
