The songs of Scott Walker will be celebrated over three nights at the Barbican next month. Walker, who first achieved fame as part of the Walker Brothers in the 1960s, only to be come a classic example of the reclusive pop star. Though he has continued with a much acclaimed solo career, reportedly never listens to his songs after he records them and very rarely plays live.

Though he lives in England and is producing the evening himself, Walker is not slated to perform. Instead, his band will be accompanied by a 42-piece string orchestra and will be fronted by an extraordinary line-up, including Damon Albarn, Jarvis Cocker, Gavin Friday (whose performance at Rogue's Gallery gave us a thrill), and sometime Babyshambles member Dot Allison. Further additions to the line-up (rumours are circulating about the Walker-inspired Last Shadow Puppets) are yet to be announced.

Drifting and Tilting - The Songs of Scott Walker, 13-15 November, the Barbican Theatre. Tickets are £20/25/30/35. For more information, visit the Barbican website.
