A rooftop fire and ‘several explosions’ caused an evacuation of Kings Place at lunchtime today (click link for pics). The new arts venue and future home of the Guardian, on York Way, King’s Cross, was closed off for several hours while fire crews investigated. At least ten emergency vehicles attended the scene, and the flames were quickly doused. For such a new building, Kings Place is no stranger to fire alerts. A blaze during construction, led to train cancellations and an exclusion zone that affected local businesses and residents.
