Weekend Round-Up

  • Olympic divers are threatened by a shortfall in funding.
  • If you’re going down, don’t do it at Pentonville: the north London prison is apparently akin to a very large lavatory. Croydon strikes back, as an I Love Croydon campaign is launched.
  • Bad thing, jealousy – it can lead to headlessness: a woman is jailed.
  • Metroland is braced for the arrival of a hip and happening new rabbi. The names of post WWII heroes who have died in action are to be added to a permanent memorial in Enfield.
  • And in the weekend crime round-up, a man has been stabbed to death in Camberwell, and another has been injured in a stabbing in Rotherhithe.
  • And here’s what we think we may have learned by this time next week:

  • That the ‘A’ listers are all away somewhere ‘A’ shaped, and so the news is all ‘B’ list.
  • ’If the first week of August be warm, the winter will be white and long’. Londonist loves lore.
