BA may have embarked on an advertising campaign to remind folk that T5 is "working", but what's a much better way of getting people to forget said terminal's troubled birth? Show them that it's by far the only problematic part of Heathrow.

Last night some 3,000 people were embroiled in chaos at Terminal 3, as a computer glitch resulted in two cancelled flights, several more delayed, and disruption to thousands of travellers. People were left waiting outside as computer screens the length and breadth of the terminal went blank.

This morning the long-haul terminal is getting back to normal, while fingers are being pointed - a familiar story, this - at a fault with the baggage and check-in system. BAA promises that travellers are slowly, but steadily, being checked in, and expects the backlog to clear presently.

A demi-mound of baggage that failed to reach its destination, around 2000 bags strong, will be flown out - hopefully avoiding the Italian sojourn that bags lost at T5 went on. Whether, however, BA will be able to recoup the coin they spent on an ad campaign that's since been rendered redundant, however, remains to be seen.
