Field Music may be on an indefinite hiatus, but the members of Field Music haven't left us wanting. We've already told you about David Brewis' fantastic School Of Language, and we're just as excited about Peter Brewis' The Week That Was. Full of dramatic crescendos, the odd orchestral flourish, and the sorts of songs you'll find yourself unconsciously humming throughout the day, TWTW is no less ambitious than Field Music, but still a bit more accessible. Plus there are some very '80s vibes (in a good way, for a change) courtesy of a well-programmed drum machine.

The next two weeks are going to be busy for The Week That Was. In addition to a debut self-titled record being released today, you can catch him at 93 Feet East tonight with Portland's Menomena (worth seeing in their own right). Wednesday will have him opening for the much lauded Yeasayer at Kings College. And for those of you really missing Field Music, you can get some kind of approximation on the 28th at Barfly, when the younger Brewis' School Of Language joins the bill. Leg warmers are optional, dancing is unavoidable.
