See A Mercury Nominee For Free!

mercurys2008.png

We are very excited about this year's Nationwide Mercury Music Prize nominations. Not only did we personally manage to guess 9 out of 12 correctly, but some Londonist favourites are nicely sitting in the mix with the unnervingly young Laura Marling, the mighty Elbow, dazzling jazz stars Portico Quartet and dubstep hero Burial all on the list.

What we're really excited about is the inclusion of Neon Neon - Gruff Rhys and Boom Bip's amazingly electronic projec - debut album 'Stainless Style'. We were dazzled by their live show at Cargo last week and are pleased that they're back so soon with another live show this week.

Plus it's a free live show - hooray! The Delorean loving boys will be rocking up at Rough Trade East on Thursday evening for a show filled with sleek glamour and Welsh voices and they'll no doubt be fuelled on by their nomination. Wristbands will be available from 6.45pm onwards and if you like anything that sounds electronic or a bit 80s we strongly urge you to go and check them out. Plus on a side note Gruff Rhys was looking exceptionally hot at the Cargo gig. We're sure he never looked that good with Super Furry Animals!

Check after the jump for the full list of nominees (and odds as of today) and let us know what you think about the list and who you'd like to win!
