Weekend Round-Up

Here’s what we’ve learned whilst you were stuck in Bank Holiday traffic jams:

  • In the weekend crime round-up, a promising young actor was killed in a street brawl in Sidcup whilst four other youths were stabbed….
  • And two teenagers have been shot and seriously wounded in separate incidents in North London.
  • Police are ‘puzzled’ over the disappearance of a man accused of stealing some rare horticultural books.
  • Tube cleaners are threatening to go on strike. They have cleaners?
  • Croydon police have released CCTV images of suspected gang rapists.
  • Boy racers in Wimbledon have taken to posting silly-arse videos of their antics on You-Tube.
  • There be killer caterpillars in Colindale.
  • Chris Rock breaks a new world record with the biggest ever stand-up gig at the O2. Jeez – we hope they liked him.
  • Petrol theft could soon be a thing of the past as garages in London have begun to install security spikes.
  • And here’s what we think we will have learned by this time next week:

  • That Madge may be a New Londoner but she has still turned down our suggestion of being our Eurovision entry next year. Wonder if Amy’s free?
  • The date of the Labour party ballot. To find a new PM of course.
  • That Indy has broken all box office records and sod the critics.
  • Rained-on tourists from genvessel’s flickr photo stream under the Creative Commons Licence.

Even if the UK did manage to convince someone like Madonna to enter the Eurovision Song Contest we'd still lose!!!

I was surprised you didn't cover the Long Weekend at the Tate Modern - combined with the Nissan Qashqai Challenge there was loads going on down there yesterday

Sorry we missed the Long Weekend: sounds like our cup of tea. Although usually we manage to preview stuff like this in our weekly London on the Cheap slot.
We are always grateful to our readers for pointing out stuff that's gone on, is going to go one, or should go on.
