FA Cup final day dawns and, as supporters representing the competition's former temporary home in Cardiff return the visits made by Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham and Millwall they are joined by fans of Portsmouth, the club who have retained the trophy for the longest time courtesy of beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-1 in the last pre-war running of the world famous tournament. Many devotees of both teams are exiled in the capital and one such is Dave, a North London Pompey die-hard who will be heading to Wembley this afternoon hoping his side can live up to their billing as favourites.

How did you begin supporting your club?

I grew up in Gosport many years ago and have supported them all my life.

Were you at the semi-final and, if so, what were your impressions of the new Wembley experience?

I was at the semi and I enjoyed it although I still feel that it should be for the Final only. I might have thought differently if we'd lost, though.

What are your plans for Saturday?

Get up, bite to eat, then tube to Wembley with my daughter to enjoy the day.

How much does it mean to your fans to be in the FA Cup Final?

Many are nervous and most still can't believe it. It will be my greatest moment as a Pompey supporter.

Where do you generally watch televised football in London?

Mostly at home. I lived in Manchester until recently and I'd watch it in the pub there. It seems a bit different in London though. If Pompey are playing I don't watch the television, I'm at the match.

Who's the unsung hero in your squad?

Richard Hughes, I think. He always steps in and does a good job when called upon.

Which opposition player worries you most?

None really, although if anyone is going to step up and make me regret saying that it's Robbie Fowler.

What will the score be on Saturday and who will be the match winner?

2 - 0 Glen Johnson and David Nugent.
