Weekend Round-Up

Here’s what we’ve learned whilst you’ve been resolving to train for the marathon next year:

  • Draconian new litter laws for motorists are to be piloted in London.
  • The London Cycling Campaign are worried by a delay in new safety legislation for HGVs.
  • Now BA pisses off all the other airlines by delaying the move of its long-haul operations to T5 until later on this year.
  • Freud’s naked London civil servant is set to fetch £17m.
  • There is a general sharpening of nails as Graham Norton hits back at Kevin Spacey over the BBC’s reality musical shows.
  • Some legal firms are apparently advising wannabe immigrants to lie on their applications to score more points under the new system. Tsk! Tsk!
  • The Mayor of Ealing has paid a visit to a pole-dancing club in full regalia to, erm, promote her understanding of such matters. Good for her.
  • And here is what we expect to have learned by this time next week:

  • That we can live without our i-pods for a day – National Noise Awareness Day is on the 16th.
  • That there is a national petition for a gagging order for Heather Mills.
  • That the strange bus (spotted touring London by several Londonist readers) sporting balloons and a crooning George Galloway is not in fact a manifesatation of what we had to drink last night: it is real and threatening to come to a high street near you.
  • St. Mary-le-Strand magnolia from bortes cristian’s flickr photo stream.
