Music Choice: Monday 17th - Friday 21st March

A changeable week around the capital, as we caught up with the marvellous Black Cab sessions, saw Laura Marling live at Union Chapel on Tuesday, got excited about Radiohead playing the Beeb, had a quick chat with quickly rising stars Clocks, finally conceded that not even Ken can save the Astoria, and realised that Damon Albarn may have his fingers in too many pies.

Ida Maria

Meanwhile, looking ahead to this week things are rather quiet as a lot of the music biz are currently in Austin, Texas for SXSW. For some decent coverage, pop on over to our friends at Austinist for the inside scoop.

Monday night sees Foals play a sold out Astoria for the biggest night of their lives to date. Electro-indie rockers Infadels grace the Scala - tickets are £10 each from the usual outlets. Finally, Panic at the Disco are doing an instore at HMV Oxford Street - get there at 9am for your free ticket.

Norwegian beauty Ida Maria graces the Camden Barfly on Tuesday night, though tickets are all gone it seems. Experimental avant-garde Greek-American star Diamanda Galás plays Queen Elizabeth Hall for the first of two nights there - the other on Thursday night. Colorado death metallers Cephalic Carnage play Underworld - tickets are £6.50 from Ticketweb.

The Feeling play the first of two nights at Shepherds Bush Empire on Wednesday night, though predictably tickets have all gone. Casiotone for the Painfully Alone play the luminaire, bringing their raw, emotional and homemade synth pop to London for the first time. Tickets are £8 from We Got Tickets.

The Cure

Thursday is the night of big shows this week, as The Cure play a sold out Wembley Arena, David Gray plays the Hammersmith Apollo (tickets are a rather expensive £32.50) and Sugababes play the Royal Albert Hall of all places (tickets £25 a pop). XFM also host their Big Night Out at Brixton Academy, with tickets £12.50 from Ticketweb, which is a bargain considering you get Futureheads, One Night Only and Black Kids all in one night from 9pm-3am.

To round out the week, The Gossip play a sold out Shepherds Bush Empire on Friday night, or if you like something a little bit more retro, 60's stars The Sonics play the Forum for the first of two shows - the second on Sunday. Tickets are £25 each.

We always recommend ethical gig trading site Scarlet Mist as your first port of call for tickets particularly when they're sold out, so check them out and beat the touts. Failing that Gumtree is always a friend.
