Got a London Question?

Stuff we like

March 12, 2008

Listen Up: Clocks

Clocks sprung onto our radar early this year when we got very excited by the incorrect idea that 90s dance 'pioneers' Clock had reformed. Instead we were presented with a fun, new poppy indie band from Epson making the type of music that puts a spring in your step and a summery smile on your face.

Genuinely feelgood - we went to check what they were all about. Have a look at the video for their next single ‘Old Valve Radio’ which is out April 7.

Who's in the band?

Tom sings and plays guitar and keyboards
Ed(mund) plays lead guitar and sings backing vocals
John plays bass
Rich plays drums and sings backing vocals

What's ace about London?

Perpetual motion

If you had to annoyingly pigeon hole yourself into a sound, what would it be?

Neobeat Alternative Indie Pop Rock

Why should we listen to you rather than every other new band out there?

We were writing songs four, five years ago that were different from what was going on in the industry at the time..and now that we're coming to release some of these songs, they are seeming to fit in well with the times. I suppose what I'm saying is we haven't changed to 'fit in', we're just playing what we like to play, so hopefully others will like it too. Have a listen. Out of curiosity!

What are you upto at the moment?

We're out on our fourth UK tour at the moment, this time with One Night Only. We're having a great time and have played to some rather fun crowds along the way. It's good.

What's your favourite London venue?

Out of the ones we've played so far, ULU was rather nice.

Can you think of an unusual London location that should open itself up for gigs?

Natural History Museum, that would be reverbtastic.

What's your favourite record shop in London?

Banquet, Kingston-Upon-Thames

What's your favourite club night in London?

New Slang in Kingston

What's your favourite song so far this year?

Boy Kill Boy - Promises

What other new London bands / artists should we be checking out?

The Draytones

Where can we see you playing next?

Shepherd's Bush Empire, three sold-out dates with Scouting For Girls in April

What's your London secret?

There is generally more room towards the rear of Londonbound trains...
