Curiosity doesn’t always kill cats. In fact, when curiosity insisted we poke our lunchtime whiskers into Coffee, Cake and Kink, the only thing terminated was our need to continue searching for a place to eat. As the name suggests, Coffee, Cake and Kink sells coffee (delicious Monmouth Coffee Company coffee!), surprisingly satisfactory cakes (a large and wholesome piece of carrot cake was a filling lunch for Londonist) along with all sorts of wands, balls, tasselled items and more for imaginative and horny grownups. CCK is also an incredibly mellow café for a midday sit and think. Indeed, this café (at least around noon on a rainy weekday) feels more like the sort of place to visit before or after a Sarah McLachlan concert than an orgy. The probability of Jay Wiseman’s “Erotic Bondage Handbook” being on your table or a display of the “world’s best soft toys for adults” standing in your line of vision seems almost beside the point. Coffee, Cake and Kink is a tasteful little spot for a tasty little lunch.

Is this what Marie-Antoinette had in mind?
