Get Set to Get Set

Just in case there are any 2012 sceptics left amongst you out there (it’s gotta be good, right?), Ken is sending his Olympics PR machine out to get you.

In what is actually quite an inspired little scheme, a series of three perky little igloos in jaunty, hard-to-miss shades will be hitting your high street, town square, playing fields or municipal car park real soon. All 33 boroughs in 3 months, starting off in Trafalgar Square today. Meet the Get Set 2012 Roadshow.

It’s aim is to get you involved, to make you feel good about London’s involvement and confound that carefully prepared marathon rant that you wheel out at dinner parties and the like. It is not, as you might think, a mere travelling exhibition about the 2012 site, the Paralympics, and plans therein: ooh no – they’ve been far more devious, appealing to everyone’s innate narcissistic side. You can go and play, and find out which sport is best for you and where to do it in your area. You can also sign up to do something ceremonial in the summer involving the Beijing games and ‘handover’ time, and the third pod looks at job prospects and vacancies within the Olympics.

This Londonist is still scowling over the logo fiasco….but even she might give these bouncy fun bubbles a whirl. Come on Ken-o – sell it to us some more. We’re kind of listening…..
