Ooh wait. Do we have time for one more pub lunch before 2007 comes to a close? Well then, allow us to mention Queen Boadicea. There’s an adequate selection of beer, wine and booze at this Clerkenwell establishment as well as a solid assortment of good food. Boadicea’s succulent burgers are well worth considering and the Queen’s Caesar salad is a commendable choice too (but with all that bacon it’s not really that much healthier than the burgers). Despite the fact that the bartenders like to pre-emptively apologize for how long food orders will take, Londonist has been pleased by how little time it’s taken to get our grub during recent visits. There’s free WiFi too (just ask for the password) not to mention an eclectic assortment of mounted animal heads on the gorgeously painted walls. Think Victorian big game hunter meets Post Modern interior designer. Yet, the space is miraculously not cluttered or terribly busy, just sort of grungy-chic. A mellowed mix of students and suits seem happy to share Queen Boadicea’s spacious rooms during weekdays. It’s a pleasant place to find oneself round lunchtime.
