Santa's Lap: Peckham Prezzies

Dusting off the snow from last year, every day this month the Londonist team will be pointing you in the direction of a Christmas present that (with a bit of luck) you won't already have on your list. Climb up onto our collective lap and we'll see what we can move from our sack to your stockings...

The Londonist team is full of interesting people doing exciting things but one in particular has been in the limelight recently, not least for doing an open air cook off in Peckham this weekend.

Sally Butcher runs Persepolis in Peckham, a wondrous Aladdin's Cave of Persian goodies and good humour. Not only was she instrumental in organising the inaugural Peckham Literary Festival but her debut foodie book, Persia in Peckham was published this year and has wound up on the Sunday Times Best Books of the Year list. Anyone who loves food, Peckham and/or a jolly good read will adore this engaging and funny book, packed full of recipes that are demystified for those of us who fear new things and many fascinating nuggets about Iranian stuff.

As part of her crusade to singlehandedly find Peckham a place in everyone's heart you can buy your beloved a Persepolis t-shirt in many colours with I LOVE PECKHAM emblazoned on the back. Even if you're not a Peckham lover, they're really nice quality t-shirts... Also, we feel, after a trip to Persepolis itself, you might become a convert.

Persia in Peckham is available to online direct from the publisher at £17.99 and from all good online booksellers or you can pick up a copy in Persepolis at 28-30 Peckham High Street SE15, with a special discount. T-shirts are £7.49 for coloured (red, yellow, royal blue, emerald green, purple, baby pink, white), or £7.99 for black with gold ink. Cotton shoppers that save the world with the same logo are £3.49 and there's a free I Love Peckham postcard/badge for every Londonist reader who comes in the shop.
