Oxjam Music Festival: Final Week

We've already told you about Oxjam. You know the deal. Listen to great music, dance around like a loon, support Oxfam. It makes perfect sense. And that £1 million target won't raise itself, you know...

Grumpy Old Drunks - The Drunks are in charge at Nambucca and ULU this weekend. Live performances from the Piney Gir Country Roadshow and ace gypsy punk outfit (and stars of Stokefest 2007) The Destroyers, while The Maccabees and Good Shoes will be taking turns at the DJ booth. Warning: attendance by actual grumpy old drunks (hopefully) not guaranteed.

After Dark - splicing Oxjam with some early Halloween frolics, the organisers promise a night of rock, acoustic and alternative musicians. £1 off the entrance fee if you turn up in Halloween dress.

Express Yourself - an "inspiring musical journey through a multifaceted spectrum of musical talent" is promised at the Puzzle Pub Company on Gray's Inn Road. Apparently a talent scout will be in attendance to check out the mostly unsigned artists, so one hopes they'll be trying their darndest to put on a memorable night.

Vintage Mysteries - The Canal Bar plays host to an evening of "noir-esque obscurity" featuring "magicians, burlesque show girls and wannbee starlets" Sounds like just the kind of place Philip Marlowe would choose to spend an evening.

Oxjam, various venues, until October 31st.
