After numerous appearances on the Continent, as well as performances at such legendary festivals as MUTEK and Detroit's Electronic Music Festival, we were beginning to think perhaps we smelled bad. Why else wouldn't Gui Boratto come to visit our lovely island? Thankfully we no longer need to be concerned about our possibly poor hygiene, for the kind souls at Allez-Allez have once again teamed with the Kompakt label, this time to bring the Brazilian minimal techno producer to London for his first ever UK gig tonight at Plastic People.

While having worked for many years in the commercial sector, it was only in 2005 that Boratto began to focus more on his own compositions. In that short amount of time he's an released an impressive collection of singles as well as a stunning debut, "Chromophobia", on Kompakt earlier this year. All of "Chromophobia" wraps you up in its warmth, finding serenity between the snare and the hi-hat and comfort among the velvety synthesizers, but the undeniable star track is the subdued epic "Beautiful Life". Stretching lazily across eight minutes and thirty odd seconds, it could coast us along for hours and we'd still be mesmerised by its tranquility. It's a fairy-tale world where the sun shines through gossamer curtains and each listen to it makes you feel like maybe everything's going to work out fine in the end after all.

Appearing with Boratto will be Chilean artist Matias Aguayo and Allez-Allez DJs. Aguayo will be serving up a DJ set laced with his trademark luscious vocals, while Allez-Allez will stay off the mic and simply work overtime on the decks instead. When we covered their May Kompakt event with The Field, it was uncertain if more events would follow, though we still shamelessly hinted that we wanted Boratto. Ask and Londonist shall receive, apparently, for not only have they brought us our favourite Brazilian beatmaster, but they've forged a solid relationship with Kompakt that will see a series of fantastic gigs unfold over the months ahead. September will have Supermayer, a superduo formed by blending Michael Mayer's mutant powers with those of Superpitcher, celebrating their new album, while later this year we'll enjoy nights with Justus Köhncke (live) and Jennifer Cardini. Well done, Allez-Allez!
