We first came across Molloy last year an mp3 of"Tracy" bounced into our inboxes. A sleazy yet cute electro ditty, it managed to stay away from our recycle bin and we've been spinning it out and about in London clubs. Now "Tracy' is being released properly this week so we caught up with the band to find out a little more about them. If you like them and the song then vote for them to be on XFM on Thursday!

Describe Your Sound To Us Dirty-minded angular elecro-pop rock!
How Did You All Get Together? On 12th December at 12 minutes past midnight, oblivious to each others presence, we were sat waiting for a take-out pizza. "Alan", shouted the member of serving staff as we all arose. Could we all be called Alan? Can you die of cancer at a car boot sale? The answer, of course, is yes! Astounded by this coincidence, we formed an eternal bond, which can only be broken by ham. It wasn't long before we had formed a band, too, and chosen a moniker in fitting with our green & orange attire - Molloy was thus born. Of course, we soon found out that being in a band and sharing the same name wasn't all going to be sunshine & roses. So, over a game of Scrabble, new high-scoring, yet succinct, identities were formed accordingly…Jez (19 points) guitar & vocals, Caz (14 points) vocals & guitars, Chaz (18 points) bass, Jacqz (32 points) synth & vocals, Toz (12 points) drums.
What's The State Of Play With The Band At The Moment?
Busy. Debut single "Tracy" out on limited edition green 7" vinyl on 2nd July through new London label Way Out records followed by a digital mini-album out 27th July through Berlin-based Kitty-Yo (home to Peaches' first releases!).
Where could we catch you live next? We're having a proper gig on 16th July at Barfly in Camden. Check our myspace profile though, cos we get new gigs added all the time!
What's the greatest lyric you've written?
"She kicked me in the head with an orthopedic shoe"...which appears 24 times in our song "Orthopedic shoe"...in three part harmony! Come on!
