Huge hangover? Spent all of your money? Yep, us too. So we can’t go and watch Barbara Streisand (though we don’t think we’ll ever be that rich) and we can’t go and see Elling. But, here’s a few things you can do this week to make things a little easier on your pocket.
Monday: Been a while since you’ve seen a good film? Then the Canary Wharf Summer Series at Canada Square park should make you happy. They’re showing ‘The Apartment’ this evening at 7.30pm. And unlike the Somerset House screenings, this is free. Take a bottle of wine and make sure you wrap up warm.
Tuesday: It’s The Londonist Quiz! Hooray! You can’t really have anything else planned can you? Get yourself down the The Queens Head on Essex Road and make us look stupid and win prizes. OK, so it’s not free. It’ll cost you 2 quid. Frankly a bargain.
Wednesday: We love a mini festival at Londonist. It makes us feel all summery. This Wednesday at The Scoop you can see Swing Thing with your sandwiches at lunchtime and Imelda May in the evening. Don’t forget to take a brolly.
Thursday: The British Library is letting us stay up late tonight (well, until 11.30) to celebrate their ‘Sacred’ exhibition. You can go and watch Shazia Murza tell jokes and take a look at the new stuff. It’s all about the most sacred books and manuscripts. You will need to book tickets though.
Friday: You can go to the beach! Yes, those clever folk at The O2 have spent an awful lot of money transporting tonnes of sand to make an indoor beach. At the moment, summer needs all the help it can get so you’ll find us there in our swimsuits with melting ice creams. There’s djs tonight so you can dance the night away and have your very own beach party.
Saturday: If you drank too much on Friday night at the beach party, nothing sorts out a hangover like a morning walk. Well, that and a bacon sandwich. If you do go for a wander, the Queen Mary gardens in Regents Park have had a bit of a transformation recently. There are sculptures by Unis Safardiar and Sean Henry. So whilst your strolling through the park, why not take a look and see what you think.
Or, you could stay in and watch Big Brother instead.
