Londonist recently paid a visit to German fast food eatery, Kurz & Lang, where we sampled the “wurst” meal: Bratwurst, sauerkraut, potato cubes, and a slice of rye bread. All for five quid, it was good value for money. We contemplated drinking a Pauliner along with the meal but, trying to keep lunch on the cheap, settled instead for some tap water.

Within seconds of ordering, an overly abundant plate heaping with German goodness was readily presented. To be honest, the narrow rectangular plate was so loaded with kraut and cubes that it was actually a bit of a problem manoeuvring knife and fork to get at a sufficient bite to eat for much of the meal. Still, the juicy Bratwurst, sourced from a “medium-sized supplier” from a rural Rhineland-Palatine producer focused on “ecological and quality production” was yummy and worth the effort.

Good and filling for when you’re in a rush, Kurz & Lang is a more than decent lunch option for folks working near Smithfield Market.
