Just out the Van:

The London Literature Festival, a two week Festival, starts today at the South Bank Centre. Some of the highlights over the weekend and next week include:

Sat 30 June - The Uk's biggest ever Book Crossing (free).

Mon 2 July - Pat Barker launches her new novel, Life Class, with a reading and discussion about her life as a writer in her only London show (£8.50).

Tues 3 July - Marking the centenary of WH Auden' birth, tenor John Mark Ainsley, actor Kwame Kwei-Armah, pianist Roger Vignoles and poets Simon Armitage, James Fenton and Jo Shapcott, celebrate his life and work in a special evening of oratorio, songs, poems, film and images (£9).

Tues 3 July - Martin Rowson, political cartoonist whose philosophy is, quite rightly, to 'always make fun of people who are more powerful than you are' (8.50).

Weds 4 July - Sean Borodale, Tobias Hill & Iain Sinclair pay tribute to London as muse to celebrate the reopening of the Poetry Library (£7).

Thurs 5 July - Reggae poet Linton Kwesi Johnson invites an all-star line-up of some of the most musical and socially conscious poets from across the globe to perform (£9).

Givin’ ‘em away:

Keeping it in the family are Donda West and her hip-hop superstar son Kanye West, who will be signing Donda's memoir Raising Kanye tomorrow at Waterstones. Waterstone’s Piccadilly, SW1Y 6WW, 020 7851 2400.

One for a length of string:
