We have already offered our two pennies on the BBC's Song for London competition and have gathered enough London-themed songs to hum tunelessly on the bus and while doing the washing up.

Still, among us are many who would rather throw their heads back and sing out loud and for you, look what has been organised... Sing London is a week of events encouraging Londoners to sing. Lots of venues and organisations have joined the programme and it seems that almost every borough is represented so when all the week's singers gather for the finale on 8 July in the South Bank Centre, the whole of London will truly be singing. The programme is huge and ranges from small-scale amateur sing-a-longs in a supermarket to intimate one-to-one classes with an English National Opera expert. Check out the full programme here and pick something to sing about.

One of the events that has caught our attention is the monthly Friday Late at the V&A. Taking place this Friday, the museum is taken over for the usual Friday Late mix of music, food and drink and the Sing London element is basically the chance to gather with several hundred other keen vocalists to lift up your voice and sing. Bring a recording device of some sort and send us your efforts - we've often wondered what London sounds like. Over Sing London week, and at the grand finale, maybe we'll find out.

Sing London, Friday 29 June to Sunday 8 July. For the full programme of events, go to the Sing London events website here. Friday Late at V&A: Sing London, Friday 29 June from 6.30pm, free. For more information, go to the V&A Late website here.
