Music Choice: Monday 11th June - Friday 15th

As the festival season kicks off into full swing, the range of “normal” bands playing the capital starts to dwindle as they recover from their Download and Isle of Wight sized hangovers and prepare for a Wireless one this weekend.

First up, on Monday night, The Fratellis play Scala, which is well and truly sold out, however you may be able to get a last minute offer on scarlet mist or equivalent. If you like your rock a bit heavier and sweatier, then Mötley Crüe and Papa Roach all play Hammersmith Apollo as well, with tickets at £35 available from the usual outlets.

Tuesday sees Electric Six not quite taking you to a gay bar, gay bar, gay bar, but instead to Cargo, where you can still get tickets for £12.50 as they support their new effort “Switzerland”.

2006 Road to V Winners Bombay Bicycle Club play The Dublin Castle for a gig that is sure to get very hot and sweaty. Support comes from 2007 finalists Bo Pepper, with The Steers and Revenue also playing. Bombay Bicycle Club, named after the Notting Hill restaurant, are definitely a band to watch in the future, with their fast, frantic sweaty indie pop gaining them lots of fans. White Stripes also play the Rivoli Ballroom, as previewed on Friday.

Polysics, the much adored Japanese new wave/synth-pop/J-Rock band play Spitz, which is sold out on We Got Tickets, but may have a few last minute tickets available at £10 each. Final choice for Tuesday is Satellite Party, the new alternative funk rock band conceived by former Jane's Addiction and Porno for Pyros front man Perry Farrell, who play Mean Fiddler. Tickets are still available at £18.50.

Wednesday night sees Art Brut bring their unique art rock to the Astoria for another night of humour and great tunes. Tickets are still available at £11 each. Just slightly round the corner, The Sounds play Mean Fiddler with Goodbooks and Neils Children as support. Sure to be a winner.

Thursday sees the first day of the O2 Wireless festival in Hyde Park, which brings tonnes of fab bands to the capital. There will be the first of the festival previews about Wireless up on Monday hopefully.

If you’re not out in the sun at Wireless then you could go and see Dizzee Rascal, Newham General and DJ Tubby on the Dirtee Stank tour at Koko, where tickets are £15 and still available. Alternatively, you could go and see the ever feisty Swedish sensation that is Robyn when she plays at Dingwalls. Tickets are £8 from usual sources.

Finally, on Friday if you want a quiet night in Tom McRae plays Shepherds Bush with support from Steve Reynolds (tickets £15) and Kula Shaker make their (hopefully) sensational return at Bush Hall, though tickets are sold out.
