Londonist asks that most pressing of daily concerns: where to go on your lunch break.

Beatroot

92 Berwick Street W1 V3FL

Average Lunch Price: £5

Rating: 9 out of 10

About halfway down Soho’s frenetic and cacophonous Berwick Street is a relative oasis of salubrious calm, the Beatroot Vegetarian Café. An appetizing and healthy array of vegan salads, hot food, smoothies and juices are ‘prepared with natural ingredients and lots of care’ and served cafeteria-style to the delight of health-conscious and ethically aware consumers, not to mention everyone else simply interested in a delicious ready-to-go meal sold at a commendable price.

Londonist recently (and thoroughly) enjoyed a medium-sized box (£4.70) crammed with heaping helpings of the bean hotpot of the day and the tofu stir-fry atop a bed of organic brown Italian short-grain rice with a couple of sausage rolls (puff pastry parcels filled with Herby Soya Mince) thrown in for good measure. However next time, we will strongly consider ordering a small box (£3.70) instead to ensure there’s room for the yummy smoothies and cakes on display!

Thanks to Londonist staff member, Duncan, for suggesting this fine eatery!
