Remember the spying rock that we interviewed? Well there's been an upgrade:

A council is set to use secret cameras hidden in baked beans tins to catch residents putting rubbish out on the wrong day. Ealing Council in London will also put the tiny CCTV bugs inside house bricks, reports the Sun. Householders caught breaking strict new rubbish rules will be fined up to £1,000.

This is apparently the next step from CCTV wheelie bins and is aimed at 'enviro criminals' and the more old fashioned 'vandals'. We love the fact that tins of beans will be in constant contact with the council's 'CCTV control centre'. A bit like the NWA from Hot Fuzz.

Last word goes to a local though:

"I've lived here all my life and have never heard of anything so screwed-up. Since when did forgetting to put your rubbish out make you a criminal?"

Sounds like a bad egg to us. Best send a van round.
