The British military have launched a new satellite:

The British spacecraft is the first in what will eventually be a three-satellite constellation designed to allow the Army, Royal Navy and RAF to pass much more data, faster between command centres. "Skynet's going to provide five times the capacity that the previous system provided, and allow the military to do things they just haven't been able to do in the past," Mr Woods explained.

Isn't that great. And the best thing is... hang on. Did he say Skynet? Now where have we heard that name before?

John Connor: Skynet is the virus. It's the reason everything's falling apart.

Terminator: Skynet has become self aware. In one hour it will initiate a massive nuclear attack on its enemy.

Robert Brewster: What enemy?

John Connor: Us. Humans.

Oops! So either the military have a very dark sense of humour (they did send young Prince Asbo to Iraq) or they don't watch nearly enough sci fi to know just how wrong this is.

Things we're looking forward to in a future ruled by machines:

* The hot T-X chasing Claire Danes

* Finally getting rid of Centre Point (along with the rest of London, the UK and the world)

* The soundtrack

* Death being served up with monosyllable one liners

* The Terminators breaking down because of the wrong kind of snow
