Star C. Foster

We received the sad news yesterday that one of the Phillyist editors, Star, passed away over the weekend. The nature of her death means that it came as a shock to everyone. All at Londonist would like to pass on our deepest condolences to Star's friends and family.

Star had been complaining of a pain in her foot, which she thought had to do with some bad moves she'd made at dancing class, but it turns out there was a tumor in her leg which matastasized and went to her heart. She had a seizure this morning, her boyfriend Mike called for an ambulance, she had another seizure on the way to the hospital, and then died of a pulmonary embolism.

Phillyist will be going on hiatus for the next few days, out of respect for Star and the massive impact she made on the site. Star was with Phillyist from day one, and we can't convey to you how much we will all miss her.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Star's loved ones. Please send a few of yours her way, too.

Thanks for all your love and support,

Star also wrote for us over at Shiny Shiny and we're going to miss her a great deal. She was one of our longest serving bloggers and although I only met her once in person, I'm going to miss the silly emails we used to send each other - as well as her excellent posts on Shiny.

Star loved London. She would have been happy to know she is remembered there.

Thanks Katie and Cyn. I saw from Star's Flickr stream that she was in London not so long ago. It's a shame that we never got to meet her because from reading her writing around the web I have the feeling that she'd have got on well with us.
