Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy after the murder of Carmelita Tulloch in Kennington on Tuesday morning.

According to some reports the boy "turned up voluntarily" at a police station where he was then arrested.

51-year-old Mrs Tulloch was five minutes from her home and only yards from a primary school when she was subjected to the "frenzied" assault in Wickham Street. Police have since said that she died due to blood loss from a wound to the neck.

Yesterday the woman's husband made an appeal to the public, saying:

"I can't think of any reason why anyone would want to hurt her. Everyone around here knew her and loved her - no-one has got a bad word against her. Somebody out there knows what's happened. They have to come forward and speak up. What I want most in this world is to find the killer, I won't be able to rest until until he is caught.
