A couple of cinema-related happenings which we thought we should make you aware of.

First up, starting this Wednesday is the Short Film Summer School at the Curzon Soho.

This 'celebration of the short' includes six screeening, a whole bunch of workshops, panel discussions, and more opprtuinities to press flesh with silverscreen bigwigs than you could shake a clapper board at.

It runs until Saturday and you can book tickets here.

And for the less proactive of you, something to put in your diaries for next month is the Film Four Summer Screen at Somerset House.

Classics include North by Northwest (pictured), The Outsiders and The Shining, plus there's also some more contemporary gems like Starship Troopers/Aliens (double-bill-tastic!), Howl's Moving Castle, and The Big Lebowski. Plus a screenig of Jack Black's new one, Nacho Libre, on the back of School of Rock.

Tickets are £12 (£15 for the double bills) and we reckon they'll disappear sharpish.
