Alert: Monkey Escape!

Following last week's Rare monkey found on Clapham Common headlines, we've just heard news of yet another 'zoo break' involving a rebellious primate.

Betty, a 10-year-old squirrel monkey has legged it from London Zoo:

Visitors to Regent's Park witnessed some disgraceful monkey business today as a primate from London Zoo swung into action and made her Great Escape.

Today crowds watched the monkey running through the trees as staff waited for the moment to tempt her back home.

It also emerged that the cheeky monkey may have been plotting the breakout for some time. A spokesperson said: "The monkeys have really been hurling themselves from tree to tree and can travel quite a long way."

Brilliant! Premeditated monkey escape. Do you think they had any tunnels under construction as a back up? For some reason the thought of monkeys wandering around their enclosure subtly dumping dirt out the bottom of their little monkey trousers makes us smile.
