Caliper Boy. A legend in his own lifetime. Though, we'd have expected something a bit better from him by now, given that his lifetime allegedly spans a couple of centuries.
Legend has it that Caliper Boy has been around since the early 1800s, 'lurking as the original underground street artist in the damp gloom of London's alleyways.' Sort of like the Highlander of the graffiti world.
To be fair, he does contribute more than just his scrawled name to the walls. His favoured medium seems to be the poster, usually depicting a downtrodden Victorian child.
More recently, Caliper Boy has entrusted his mission to the 'Brotherhood of the Brace' - a sacred order whose life's work is to act as spokesmen for the deformed and the twisted, the freaks and the heads, the punks and the junkies. The grime that the rain will never wash from the London streets.
Inventive, if a little twatish. You’ll be unsurprised to hear that Caliper Boy’s scrawls and posters are usually found on the streets of Shoreditch and Clerkenwell.
