If you can imagine Death From Above 1979 as two twin teen sisters from Seattle playing sparkly, wiser than their meager years, power pop then you'll be able to imagine Smoosh. Their debut She Like Electric Comes has just been released over here and from what we've heard so far it's pretty damn fine. With previous touring partners Sufjan Stevens and the Go! Team providing a better than credible pedigree you now have a chance to catch up with what's going to be one of the weirder gigs you'll ever be at, at Cargo on the 28th November. Damn, that was a long and unwieldy sentence.

North London's Puregroove records celebrates it's 15th birthday next month and to celebrate they're throwing a wee party on the 2nd December at The Dome in Tufnell Park. Headlining are the ever wonderful Duke Spirit. If you haven't seen them yet, then this is your last opportunity this year to catch them up close and personal.

Also announced this week:

The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster at ULU 6th December

Funeral For A Friend at Shepherd's Bush Empire next February 8th

Kerrang! 25th Anniversary Tour rolls into Brixton on the 28th January with Bullet For My Valentine, Hawthorne Heights, Still Remains and Aiden.

Beth Orton plays a three night residency at Spitz, December 6th, 8th and 12th.

My Morning Jacket at the Astoria on February 9th

Oh, and if you're interested you can get hold of a new Flaming Lips song here with acccompanying madness on video. Happy days!
