When we finished writing today's Extra, Extra we thought there could be no other headline today that could get anywhere beating the sheer genius of Huge armed thief steals small car.

But we have to admit that Theatregoers sprayed with vomit does come a pretty close second.

Apparently, during a preview performance of the Agatha Christie adapatation And Then There Were None last weekend, "12 audience members were accidentally sprayed with fake vomit".

In, what has to be the understatement of the day, the incident is reported to have happened when:

Props bosses at the West End's Gielgud Theatre underestimated the power of a contraption used to simulate an actor being sick.

The actor, whose character was poisoned to death, propelled the stage sick (vegetable soup) beyond the stage and into the first row of the stalls.

As spokesman for the theatre said: "It was extremely unfortunate but the whole point of previews is to iron out small glitches like this. I have to admit, though, that most glitches don't involve drenching paying theatregoers in a torrent of vomit. We were happy to pay their dry cleaning bills."
