Booking Ahead

A heavy duty start to this week's new listings with Brazilian thrash titans Soulfly, getting some kind of cheesy Londonist thumbs up of the week, back over here on the 7th February at the Astoria to pummel some heads with their excellent new Dark Ages album. Trivium's star is certainly shining in the metal firmament at the moment so a somewhat triumphant return to the Astoria on March 15th. Sludge rockers Monster Magnet, again at the Astoria, on the 12th March. And Londonist recommended US punks Alkaline Trio head down to the Brixton Academy on the 16th November.

For the more sensitive of hearing Carlos Santana will be trying to inject some soul into the lifeless desolation of Wembley Arena on the 13th May, and Alison Goldfrapp brings her super silky sexually charged electronica back to Brixton with new dates on the 9th and 10th February.

Carl (I may not be as successful as Pete but at least I have a better life expectancy) Barat's Dirty Pretty Things club is back at Koko tomorrow night with the once reigning monarchs of the sideburn, Supergrass. And congratulations to Koko for a not undeserved award for best live entertainment venue at the Bar Entertainment and Dance Association awards. There must be worse ways to turn 1.

Talking of birthday's London's Leaf label celebrates ten years of promoting left-field and innovative fusions of electronica, jazz, classical, rock, folk and pop with shows from Caribou, Colleen and Hanne Hukkelberg amongst others. Full details here
