We've been banging on about them long enough, so it's with great delight that we bring you the wonderful news for genuine Londonist favourites The Pipettes. Last night saw the band's hard-gigging finally pay off when they signed to the Memphis Industries label, home to the likes of The Go! Team, Fort Lauderdale and Blue States.
If you're really lucky, and quick, you'll be able to pick up a copy of the ABC EP, released on Transgressive Records yesterday. It's a limited edition white vinyl-only 7" and, like the Unpopular Records debut, is set to sell out extremely quickly. Buy it because the band are fabulous, though, not because it's likely to be worth much more than you paid for it sometime in the near future.
If you want to catch the live experience, then you can see them for free at the monthly Club Hedonistic at the Islington Bar Academy (that's the upstairs one) this Friday, 17th June. The Pips are bound to be in a very jolly mood given the news we've just brought you, so it should be a tippermost of the toppermost evening.
