Never one to mince his words, Ken Livingstone has called for Lord Hollick, chairman of the South Bank Centre, to be sacked over his "blackmailing" of the London Eye.
Other Labour bigwigs have now also weighed into the furore, with Culture Minister Tessa Jowell penning a personal letter to Hollick; and Kate Hoey of Lambeth Council is also apparently attempting to "broker a deal", although her diplomacy skills may need some work:
Lord Hollick's position is untenable, his timetable is complacent and his refusal to withdraw his eviction letter is unacceptable. It is disappointing that Tessa Jowell has failed to change his attitude.
Not so much 'brokering a deal' then, more 'pissing everyone off in one fell swoop'.
Londonist can exlusively reveal that plans by the South Bank Centre to install a bloody great clamp on the London Eye are completely unfounded.
