Remember the South Bank Beach project we reported on recently? Well it looks like it's run into problems already.
Unsurprisingly it's Lambeth Council who are responsible for the delay. According to reports in the papers certain 'objectors' (including Vauxhall MP Kate Hoey) want to visit the Hungerford coach park site before they give their ok.
South Bank Beach Ltd were hoping to get a decision from the council last night but now it looks like they won't hear anything until after Kate et al manage to get down to the South Bank on 21 May. With the earliest date for a final decision being 7 June the company might not have time to get the site up and ready in time for the summer.
There's no information on what exactly the objectors are objecting to and it's hard to see what could be wrong with a bit of sand, an outdooor cinema and a barbeque or two, although maybe the local residents would disagree.
