Ahh the Millennium Diamond. You took more than three years to cut, you weigh 203.04 carats and you are the second largest faceted D-Flawless diamond in the world (whatever that means).

Plus, someone tried to half-inch you using a JCB and a speedboat. This makes you one of the coolest things in the world.

And now you're going to go back on display for the first time since Lee, Ray et al tried to steal you back in 2000.

The diamond will be part of an exhibition at the Natural History Museum beginning in July, called simply Diamonds. The exhibition will feature "the world's most beautiful and spectacular diamonds," as well as, "celebrity bling, including R&B star Usher's watch". It's also "the biggest ever diamonds exhibition."

Obviously the NHM have got a bit of security in place ("We will be putting several new security procedures and systems in place, but obviously I cannot say what they are. We have taken advice from the best experts,") but we're suspicious...

...we've watched a lot of films so we know quote a bit about diamond exhibitions. And in our experience huge, well-publicised exhibitions like this are normally staged as bait for some evil mastermind.

We advise Londonist readers (and any junior reporters looking to make a name for themesleves) to try and get a ticket for the 'gala opening' as this is inevitably when the insane criminal genius will strike only to be foiled by some bloke in tights.
