To be honest we think people who provide free London news on a daily basis must be insane (ahem) but if you fancy setting up a little newspaper business all of your own in order to serve your fellow Londoners then now's your chance.

Today Ken officially opened the bidding for the free afternoon paper to be distributed on the Tube.

As we all know, Richard Desmond is mad keen on the idea and is said to have his London-i paper all ready to go to the presses (no word yet on whether it will contain Horny Houewives etc), but other names thought to be in the hat include News International (Sun and News of the World) and the Guardian Media Group.

Potential bidders have up to three months to get their bid in and we should have a decision on who's got it by August. Ken has promised that any money made form the deal will go towards improving the Tube.

It should make for an interesting fight, especially as Ken's sworn nemesis, Associated Newspapers, are bound to get involved at some point.
