Do you remember shoegazing? Do you want to know what shoegazing is? Do you wish it was still 1991? Well get yourself along to the Sonic Cathedral.

"The night that celebrates itself" will feature a set from Engineers (right) and a DJ set from Sonic Boom. If that's not enough then there are even some surprise guests. Look away now, if you don't want to know who the surprise guests are: Emma Anderson of Lush and Russell Barret of Chapterhouse.

"Party like it's 1991 to classic shoegazing sounds from the Velvets to the Valentines to Ulrich Schnauss" at The Legion, 348 Old Street. The night starts at 7pm, ends at midnight and entry is a paltry £5. Worth shelling out just for Engineers' set alone, in which they'll be previewing tracks from their album due out in March.

If you're looking for something to do this Saturday, you could do worse than get along to Notting Hill to see The Hoosier Complex, who are playing the Rough Trade RoTa Afternoon. Also on the bill are The Madeleines and Blind Jackson. DJs start at 4pm, and The Hoosier Complex will be on at around 5pm. Entry is free, so you can go along and heckle the lead singer by making disparaging comparisons to Gareth Southgate, Fran Healey, The Fonz, Ben Stiller and Danny Devito. Better still, just go and appreciate the music.

To find out more about The Hoosier Complex before you go and see them, there's an interesting piece on Garbledonline.net.
