Maybe it will be, maybe it won't, but we're pretty sure that this is the only Doherty story this year that will involve ex-childrens TV presenter, and former inhabitant of the broom cupboard, Andi Peters.
If you haven't already guessed, the Doherty-Peters connection comes courtesy of Top of the Pops which Peter produces (we've just realised that the last half of that sentence reads like a particularlry weird tongue-twister).
According to reports Doherty's band Babyshambles were rehearsing at the BBC studios last Thursday when "a member of the watching audience, named as Oli Res-Horsely shouted out 'How much crack have you had?'"
And you thought the great British art of biting satire was dead.
Doherty then preceded to dive off the stage, and managed to wrestle 'Oli' to the ground before being pulled away by security.
Rolling around on the floor of the TotP studio with a man who calls himself Oli. It doesn't get much more rock and roll that does it?
After the performance Andi Peters was apparently so scared that "Pete was waiting outside to have another pop" that he gave Oli cab fare home and sneaked them him and his mates out the back door.
How old was Oli we wonder? Fourteen? Fifteen?
