If you were in St Albans Market this past weekend you might have seen a mysterious mound of foul smelling manure.

Was it a site-specific art installation, or a inner-city farming project? No, this was revenge manure.

Apparently the surprise deposit was "connected to a row between stall-holders". What the dispute was we're not told, but Londonist can only presume that it had something to do with who could shout the loudest and in the most indecipherable way.

Full marks have to go to St Albans council though. After discovering the manure at 5am on Saturday morning, council officials decided they wouldn't be able to clear it up until after the market was finished. So what did they do? They covered it with a huge tarpaulin.
