My Fantasy Art Collection

My Fantasy Art Collection

It sounds like the title for a classroom presentation by a socially awkward nine-year-old, but according to Prospect's events listing for November (PDF file), tonight the Institute of Electrical Engineers is hosting a talk by the author Deborah Moggach, entitled My Fantasy Art Collection.

Now, we can't find any mention of the event of the IEE's website (we did find a link to the 13th International Symposium on Antennas though), but according to her website, Deborah Moggach is quite a well respected author from west London who is also Chairman of the Society of Authors and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.

So what kind of fantasy art does Deborah like talking about? We're envisioning Dunegons & Dragons stuff involving Conan the Barbarian and some scantily-clad amazonion warriors...but maybe that's just us.

More likely (according to past talks Deborah has done) attendees will get "paintings that let you encounter secret dramatic episodes, like the quiet interiors of Dutch genre paintings or the snapshot glimpses of Vuillard and Hopper".

No dragons then?

Next week at the IEE: Jeremy Paxman discusses his collection of Star Wars trading cards.
